Combine Gigabit packet capture with advanced timestamping
ProfiShark 1G+ combines the Gigabit capture, cable diagnostics, EEE control, and packet generation of ProfiShark 1G with advanced timestamp synchronization. Use GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, SNTP, or external PPS to align packet events with other devices, systems, or measurement points.
Key benefits
- Full-duplex 1G capture with 8 ns hardware timestamps
- GPS/Galileo/GLONASS UTC timing and PPS input/output
- Live cable diagnostics, EEE reporting/control, and packet generation
- Fail-safe in-line or SPAN deployment with ProfiShark Manager reporting
In-line and SPAN capture with external timing
Deploy ProfiShark 1G+ in-line or use its two capture ports as independent inputs for out-of-band traffic. USB 3.0 connects the device to ProfiShark Manager for data transfer, while the timing inputs allow packet timestamps to be aligned to GNSS or an external PPS reference when the investigation requires a common clock.
ProfiShark 1G+ helps you
Capture accurately
Record 10/100/1000 Mb/s traffic with 8 ns hardware timestamps and use synchronized time sources when packet events must correlate with other systems.
Diagnose the link
Check cable length or fault distance, pair wiring, signal quality, link-partner information, negotiated role, and Energy Efficient Ethernet behavior while the link remains active.
Validate the connection
Use packet generation with configurable frame length, rate, and packet count, then review transmitted and received results to verify link behavior.
Report the findings
Create a PDF or web report from ProfiShark Manager so that timing information, measurements, charts, and results can accompany the investigation.
Capture Gigabit traffic with synchronized time
ProfiShark 1G+ captures full-duplex 10/100/1000 Mb/s traffic at wirespeed and timestamps packets at ingress. Advanced timing adds GNSS-linked UTC time and PPS synchronization, enabling packet evidence to be correlated across devices or measurement points.
The timing workflow supports GPS, Galileo, and GLONASS, external PPS input/output, SNTP-based time retrieval, and the internal real-time clock. PPS cable compensation covers up to 1000 ns, and antenna delay compensation helps account for the timing path.
Diagnose the copper link without changing tools
Cable diagnostics can run while the link remains active and report cable length or distance to a fault, pair wiring, negotiated role, link-partner information, and signal quality. Energy-Efficient Ethernet (EEE) reporting and control help determine whether EEE behavior is contributing to latency, packet loss, or an intermittent link.
Capture evidence with context
ProfiShark enhances packet captures with diagnostic context collected alongside the traffic, helping engineers understand not only what was captured, but under which conditions.
Capture information can include hardware timestamps, clock synchronization status, device and interface identifiers, capture settings, detailed per-port frame statistics, and — on supported models — diagnostic data such as microburst events.
Fail-safe access for live networks
In-line operation uses active bypass and fast failover, with PoE passthrough. Link Failure Propagation is also supported, so a loss on one side of the link can be reflected to the other side when required by a redundant network design.
One workflow in ProfiShark Manager
ProfiShark Manager provides 1G+ with a single workflow for capture, synchronized timing, cable diagnostics, packet generation, reporting, and Wireshark analysis.

Typical applications
Distributed troubleshooting where packet events must share a common time reference
Synchronize packet timestamps to GNSS or PPS so events captured at different measurement points can be accurately compared during an investigation.
Time-sensitive and synchronized Gigabit measurements
Capture full-duplex Gigabit traffic with synchronized hardware timestamps when precise event timing is important to understanding network or system behavior.
Industrial and transportation networks
Investigate packet behavior in distributed, timing-sensitive Ethernet environments where accurate capture and a common external time reference enable root cause analysis.
Cable, EEE, and intermittent-link investigation
Combine live cable diagnostics and EEE analysis with packet capture to distinguish physical-link problems from traffic or protocol-related issues.
Commissioning and field validation with packet generation
Generate controlled Ethernet traffic and compare transmitted and received results to verify connectivity after installation, maintenance, or configuration changes.
Multi-point packet capture and correlation
Use synchronized timestamps to align packet captures from multiple measurement locations and reconstruct the order of events across a distributed network.
Long-term capture of intermittent problems
Maintain accurately timestamped captures over extended periods to investigate faults that appear unpredictably and correlate them with events from other systems.
